About
Espion was founded as a security-centric company offering auditing and consulting to large private and public organizations. Espion analysts encountered one common theme while analyzing countless penetrations of diverse organizations—email and web-mail vulnerabilities were a favorite exploitation of hackers worldwide. Before the industry-at-large would do so, Espion realized that spam was not only a growing burden for end-users, but also a security risk for their clients.
As a result, Espion designed the Interceptor to fill two seemingly disparate needs: to provide a secure email gateway, protecting their clients' email infrastructure from hackers—and to deliver an accurate, automated anti-spam solution. Combining a customized and hardened operating system, secured services, signature-based intrusion prevention rules, automated reporting, and adaptive learning anti-spam technologies, the Espion Interceptor was born.
To combat the ever-changing tactics of spammers, Espion designed the Interceptor to perform in-depth analysis of email messages. Utilizing a wide range of professionally designed heuristic rules for analyzing message header and body information, an assortment of network-based tests, and a learning, probabilistic reasoning engine which adapts to an organization's mailflow over time, the Interceptor stops up to 99% of unsolicited or potentially dangerous emails
