From the easy-to-use web interface to the end-user spam report, all aspects of the Interceptor are designed to be simple. With distributed quarantine management, administrators never need to hunt through massive quarantines to release messages. Over 2600 unique heuristic/network tests and comprehensive learning functions of the EPR engine eliminate the need to create complex rules that only work in the short term. These rules, used by several competitors, are known to create several over-blocking issues. Plus, implementing the Interceptor is a snap. Comprehensive documentation and knowledgeable support staff ensure that each Interceptor is fully prepared and properly implemented. The Interceptor's platform was initially designed to defend vulnerable email servers from malicious activities. The common theme that Espion noticed among most companies was open access from the Internet to internal SMTP and web mail servers providing hackers a gateway to sensitive company resources and information. Espion has addressed these security issues by creating a solid platform based on a hardened kernel and secure operating system with robust proxy services designed to act as a buttress for internal servers. This foundation is strengthened by the addition of intrusion prevention rules, recognition of signature based attacks and redundant virus scanning.
